UPDATED 1/5/17: An amazing day of inspiration!

Saturday is a rare chance to experience our Presiding Bishop, the Most Rev. Michael Curry, on his first visit to California’s central coast!

Bishop Curry will join us on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Sherwood Hall in Salinas (940 N. Main Street) for a free event. Renowned for his magnetic and joyful speaking style, he will begin the day with a keynote address about bringing Jesus’ messages into communities. He will also join in a panel discussion and audience Q&A.

Joining him is the Rev. Canon Stephanie Spellers, canon for evangelism, reconciliation, and stewardship of creation … one of the Episcopal Church’s leading thinkers around 21st century ministry and mission.

NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED: The public and neighboring dioceses are warmly invited to attend! For questions, call Mary Beth Powell at marybeth@realepiscopal.org.

Joseph W. Heston — President and General Manager of KSBW-TV, the Central Coast NBC and ABC affiliate — will serve as master of ceremonies and panel moderator. Below is the updated schedule:

9:15 am               Doors open to public

9:30 am              Gather (worship singing at 9:45)

10:00 am            Keynote address from Bishop Curry: Welcome to the Jesus Movement

10:45 am             Panel Discussion with Bishop Curry

11:30 am             Q&A with audience

12:00 noon        Lunch break

1:00 pm              Bishop Curry and Canon Stephanie Spellers: Going Deep and Going Long

2:00 pm              Panel discussion, audience Q&A

2:50 pm              Closing music

3:00 pm             Adjournment by Bishop Curry

More than 800 attendees are expected. This is a free event, but we ask everyone to bring their own lunches. Water will be available during the event, with donations going to Rancho Cielo.

Handicapped seating will be available in the front row at the foot of the stage.

Weather: Rain is expected, and this event will take place rain or shine. Please plan extra time to allow for rain-challenged drivers! We want you to arrive safe and sound, eager to be energized by Bishop Michael.  While Sherwood Hall’s policy states that no eating is allowed in the auditorium, we’ll work to free up enough indoor dining space.

Social media: Share the day with others by Tweeting and posting on Facebook with the hashtag #PBinRealEpiscopal

If you can’t attend the full day, we understand. You’re welcome to join us in either the morning or afternoon portion, as your schedule allows.
