The long-awaited dedication of our new diocesan offices in Salinas took place on Friday, February 27. More than 100 friends, family and neighbors attended a community open house at the historic Sargent House. Joe Gunter, mayor of Salinas, joined Bishop Mary Gray-Reeves for a ribbon-cutting ceremony (above), presenting her with a plaque from the city before she cut the red ribbon to rousing cheers. Visitors enjoyed self-guided tours, food & drink, a big-screen slideshow and music by the band McGowan’s Folly.

The event was covered by KSBW-TV, the Central coast NBC/ABC affiliate; their story, including interviews with Bishop Mary and Mayor Gunter, can be viewed here. Thanks to all who joined us to celebrate this beautiful restoration! Watch for more photos soon and on our Facebook page.
