Founded in 1887, St. Mark’s, King City, is a historic parish in South Monterey County. Long rooted in an Anglo congregation, St. Mark’s has been growing and evolving since 2018 with the development of a Latino congregation, reflecting the changing community it serves.
This exquisite jewel of a church sits near Jolon, on the road to Mission San Antonio. Founded in 1885 by Reverend James Shannon McCowan, who moved to San Luis for his health from Monterey, it is still an active parish. Beautiful stained glass windows cast their light into the small space, warming the wooden structure.
