Join Bishop Mary Gray-Reeves and friends for a Big Sur hike along Coast Ridge Road on Saturday, April 16, beginning at 10 am. We’ll enjoy stunning scenery with views of the Pacific and the Ventana Wilderness.

The private, unpaved road has a public right of way for hikers. We will gain over 1,600 feet and hike more than eight miles total. As we reach the upper knoll, approximately two hours after starting, we will rest to share prayer, food, drink and stories before beginning our downward hike. Water, energy food for lunch, and treats are strongly suggested, and be sure to wear a hat and hiking boots; some might want to bring walking sticks, especially for the return hike.

Whether you’re coming from the North or South, take Highway 1 to the Big Sur area. Watch for the signed Ventana Inn turnoff. For those coming from the north, the turnoff is south of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. For those coming from the south, the turnoff is north of the Henry Miller Memorial Library. Take the Ventana Inn turnoff inland onto the Coastal Ridge Road and drive 0.2 miles, staying on the right where you will see a signed Vista Point limited parking area at right. Walk 1/10 of a mile up. We will meet by the Vista Point Gate where the unpaved Coast Ridge Road begins. The location on Google Maps can be found here.
